Praised for their multi-faceted sound, HOLLANDS has been described as "provocative poetry sung over instrumentals laid out with such compositional intent." by Relix Magazine and  "a is cherry mix of folk punk and free noise... breezy melodies and whimsical cuteness.." by Christopher Weingarten of the Village Voice. Fronted by multi-instrumentalist John-Paul Norpoth, the son of a classical flautist, and violinist Jannina Norpoth, daughter of Detroit based avant-garde jazz guitarist Spencer Barefield - the duo carries on the torch of family tradition combining fuzzy guitars with orchestral arrangements, electric violin and traditional folk nods.

Music is in this duo’s blood.... the more traditional musical leanings of their parents barely hint at the melodic pop goodness of Hollands... There’s also a timeless quality to lead track “Great White Shark” that suggests a thirst for songwriting perfection that will eventually lead to underground and cult dominance. Hollands makes the kind of music you can play and play again until your heart’s content or your speakers wear thin, whichever happens first.
— Tiffany Daniels, Drunken Werewolf Magazine

HOLLANDS self-produced and co-engineered two EP’s, receiving enthusiastic media response and both breaking into the top 200 on CMJ College Radio charts. HOLLANDS recent LP debut Restless Youth was profiled by BBC as "pulsing indie pop that really puts a spring in your step ... mixing fun, folk, rock and elements of classical."

“…a band able to summon a staggering lullaby or a pop song that comes with all the prowl and fury of everyone from Nirvana to Public Image Ltd.”
— Alex Green, Caught in the Carousel

In 2013, HOLLANDS was recognized internationally as one of six top bands by the Banff Centre in Canada and completed a two-week artist residency at the Banff Centre working with Canada's DJ Champion. Past highlights include the NXNE Music Festival in Toronto, shows in support of Dean and Gene Ween, Christina Courtin, and Dean and Britta, as well as live radio performances Breakthru Radio Live @ Pianos NYC, Jezz Harkin's "Get in the Van," Pratt University's "The Rodent Hour," WICB Ithaca College Radio, and "Open Tunings" on WXXI in Rochester.

pulsing indie pop really puts a spring in your step. They’ve basically created a modern take on Mr Blue Sky, mixing fun, folk, rock and elements of classical.
— Ashley Team Laverne, BBC Radio
